Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)

"All right, Cleaver. Outside." Awesome!!! Great writing. Renée Zellweger, though a little bit forced, plays Bridget Jones well. The best part was Hugh Grant as Daniel Cleaver. One of the best portrayal of the tragic scoundrel in a while. And who'll forget the fight scene? That was the best part of the film. Watch it.

Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy (2009)

Best fan made movie ever!!! Giacomo Talamini managed to keep true to the Metal Gear Solid feel, even down to the com chatter. He also played Snake really well, right down to the pissed off yelling over the com. I'm puzzled as to how they managed to make Snake sound like David Hayter, and I suspect that they might have ripped the Snake's lines right out of the game itself. Nevertheless, this film definitely outdo most Hollywood adaptations. Beware, beware, Hollywood. Watch it!!!

Bright Star (2009)

Synaesthesia, nightingales, and love. These are several of the wonderful things associated with the poems of John Keats. He lived a life of a poet, and he was deeply in love, but his life was tragically ended at a very young age. This adaptation of the love that occurred between Keats and Fanny Brawne is pure melancholy that transcends any other work labored to capture the essence of romance in the cinema. This film is a celebration of love and romance. They lived in an era when England was reaching prominence in the Romantic Movement. In almost every shot, Jane Campion obtains the perfect mood of the period. Any painting associated with Romanticism resembles the characteristics of the story, and its colors. The flowers, Brawne’s design of her own coats, and the language, all appear to the senses, they add to the taste of the era along with the delicate visuals that contribute to the Romanticism terrain. The narrative is almost perfect, for it is mostly from the point of view of Brawne, which ‘Bright Star,’ is a poem Keats composed and dedicated to her. Wishaw, is significantly ideal as Keats, his eyes are engaging, and he will pull you into the poetic array necessary to portray the character. And Cornish as Brawne gives a performance that deserves every piece of respect. Further and further, this movie captures the poetic appeal of Keats, and it is unmistakably beautiful, especially the ending, with the violets assembled on the English soil captivating the soul of Keats as the movie comes to a close, and Wishaw tones the fadeout and the credits with a voice over reciting one of the best poems written by Keats, which times perfectly all the way to the end credits. As the credits begin, listen to the poem as life gets better by the second when the visual and auditory combined give the whole apprehension of an experience through synaesthesia, nightingales, and love.

Short: The News (2009)

Nice... "I killed your sister" Reaction: priceless!!! Watch it!!!

Constantine (2005)

One of the best depiction of Lucifer in a film ever!!! Peter Stormare is perfect for the role. Think about it, with the current state of our society, Lucifer would be flooded with work and be definitely be tired and a little burnout. Wow, wow, wow. Anybody who's a Lucifer fan should watch it!!!

The Dark Knight (2008)

Best Batman film ever!!! Heath Ledger's Joker is truly terrifying; almost piss myself. Everything, including the sick stuff, that the Joker does is a big joke, but at the same time absolutely psychotic. Maggie Gyllenhall is definitely a better love interest than Katie Holmes. Watch it, watch it, watch it!!!

Batman Begins (2005)

A sufficiently well written and directed film. Christian Bale is a better Bruce Wayne than Batman. Michael Caine is amazing as Alfred and Morgan Freeman is excellent as Lucius Fox. Absolutely can't stand Katie Holmes, wow, the worst on-screen chemistry seen in a while. Watch it for the sequel's sake.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)

An amazing film with a plot so intertwined and complex that I went "wow" at every plot point. Masterful direction. It felt as though it is taking deliberate but powerful steps slowly as it progresses through the story. Watch it!!!

The Hangover (2009)

Pretty good flick. Had some great laughs. Just one point though, I enjoyed the picture of the actual bachelor party in the end credits more than the film itself. Still, not bad for a film that focuses on the the worst part of bachelor parties. And it's always good to see Heather Graham on screen. Watch it when you're hungover.

Short: Temptation

Interesting concept. The poem is not bad. The thing that bugs me is the sole actor doing the voiceover; if all the different people in the film narrate the poem in their own voices, the film would be better. Maybe watch it.

Short: Snap

An interesting idea for photography, but that does not mean that it makes for a great short. Didn't like the conventionally shot chase sequence. It has potential to be several leagues better in terms of direction. Maybe watch it.

Short: Rope Came On A Thursday

Sweet, quirky and clever. But indie films bores me. Why can't indie film makers make indie films that does not look and feel indie? This indie short is no exception. Same old indie formula seen thousands of times before. Watch it if you want.

Duplex (2003)

An average film. The only thing entertaining was Eileen Essell. While watching, her character makes me want to kill her too. Thank god, I don't have such a neighbor... It's an evil statement, I know. Watch it to stir up murderous intents!

District 9 (2009)

The best science fiction film since Cloverfield and Star Trek. The acting is significantly better too. Loved every aspect of this film. Just one question, how does the aliens and humans understand each other? They don't, and according to various sources, can't speak each other language. I don't see a universal translator. Well... it's a minor detail. Must watch!!!

Short: Alive in Joburg (2005)

This is the short that preceded the feature film, District 9. It is less story and the CGI is not as refined as District 9, but it's decent. Watch it before watching District 9.

Short: 9

This short has potential. Maybe that was why it was made into a feature. The story is not as tight as some of the better shorts, but it is satisfactory. Maybe watch it.

Surrogates (2009)

This film tries but failed miserably. Editing is horrendous and the story is very limited in intrigue. The plot is the standard Hollywood's new technology/old values template. Don't waste your time!!!
