Overheard (2009)

The lies... oh the lies... This film bring the question of morality and ethics into deep retrospective. Is it ethical to dabble in insider trading to ensure the survival of one's family? Is it moral to cover up a murder plot to prevent one's lies from exposure? It's been so long since a film had managed to bring such deep and emotional thought to the mind. Must watch!

Turning Point (2009)

What a mess! The plot is so complex that there's no point even bothering to keep up with it. It tries so hard to be the next "Infernal Affairs" but failed miserably. If you ask me, I think it's a waste casting legendary actors like Anthony Wong and Eric Tsang. Don't waste your time.

The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)

Tony Scott did it again. The beginning few minutes was a plethora of skillful editing and direction. Always loved the Tony Scott and Harry Gregson-Williams combination; they combine to create the best thrillers in Hollywood. This film is no exception. Denzel Washington and John Travolta have real chemistry; the way they deliver their lines was quick and smooth. Watch it!!!

Public Enemies (2009)

It's great to see Dogme 95 techniques in a Hollywood film. Unencumbered by the stale Hollywood style, this film ascends to the status of top film of 2009. Absolutely loved the gritty digital camera and the handheld shots. Johnny Depp play the best gangster since Denzel Washington in "American Gangster". Michael Mann definitely outdid himself this time. Watch it!!!

Short: Offside (2005)

The offside rule is messed up and so is the Israelis/Palestinian conflict. These guys like football but they can't put down their weapons even when listening to the 1994 World Cup final between Brazil and Italy. Seriously, it's Brazil vs. Italy. People drop everything they're doing to watch that match, and these guys are shooting at each other. Ludicrous. Watch it.

Capote (2005)

Didn't like the film. Think that it's slow for slowness sake. Amazing performance for Philip Seymour Hoffman, no big surprise that he got the Oscar. Damn the New Yorker! Watch for PSH.

Stan Helsing (2009)

Cheesy comedy flick with big boobs. Not really great on the comedy front, but the big boobs look sweet. Lesbian kisses, strippers, boobs... boobs... Watch the boobs...

Wushu (2008)

What in the world happened to good old Chinese national cinema? What happened to the intense social commentary films by the fifth generation? Why are they trying to emulate Hollywood? And are there no more wonderful actors like Gong Li left in China? This film is a huge disappointment. Sure, the young actors have some moves, but what's the use if they can't convey subtle emotionality vital to silver screen acting? Horrible, horrible, horrible. Don't watch it!!!

Short: Goodbye To The Normals (2006)

A typical running away from home short, but with an awesome twist at the end. The child actor is great, especially his last line. Watch it.

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004)

"Will you step outside, please?" Instant classic! The trademark fight scene is even better in this movie. Two grown men grabbing at each other awkwardly, what can be better than this? And of course, Daniel Cleaver talking about naughty schoolgirl field trips. What an intriguing scoundrel! Watch it!!!
