Kind of disappointing. They upped the scale on CGI but slacked off on the script. The casting is awesome though. You got Woody Harrelson playing a hippie and Danny Glover playing the President of the U.S. Sweet! Plus the addition of Chiwetel Ejiofor and Thandie Newton is refreshing. Didn’t really liked John Cusack. Probably not one of Roland Emmerich’s best works. Independence Day was way better. Watch it if you want.
Pirate Radio (2009)
Labels: Richard Curtis | author: Yao(Clap, clap, clap) Wow. Just freaking wow. Parties, sex, drugs, rock & roll. This movie is hell of a watch. If you like rocking fun films with lots of personality and witty humor, you have to watch this. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all just about having fun. It has a greater meaning. Free speech!!! Freedom from oppression!!! Down with the bureaucratic tight asses who thinks anything different from their anal hair is an affront to nature. WATCH IT!!!
The Final Destination (2009)
Labels: David R. Ellis | author: YaoAnother franchise that is being milked to its death. When the first movie came out, it was pretty sweet plus the novelty factor makes it a worthy experience. But after 3 movies which basically stuck rigidly to the same formula, this one is rather boring. And isn’t the whole point of watching these horror/gore films is the gore? Why would anyone show less gore through the use of CGI? Don’t watch!
Gamer (2009)
Labels: Brian Taylor, Mark Neveldine | author: YaoThis is your typical action movie with bullets flying and cars exploding. Nothing new. What grinds my gears is that in the first scene, Gerard Butler’s character shot almost 200+ rounds from a 30 round magazine. I know it’s only a film, but come on, that is blatantly unrealistic. Plus what makes an action movie good is its bad guy. Michael C. Hall’s character is lacking in so much that he might as well be a side character. Don’t watch.
Carriers (2009)
Labels: Alex Pastor, David Pastor | author: YaoUsually, viral outbreak movies have great tendency to be action-packed and thus all the humanity of the characters are almost always lost in the ensuing chaos and carnage. But this movie brings out the emotional turmoil of its characters and sought to be different from other film in the genre. The scene where the father tries to distract his young daughter with a song when the main characters are abandoning them was especially heart wrenching. And the ending speaks volumes about the things we lose when we think of nothing but survival. Watch it!
