It builds and builds till the tension in the last scene was so sweet, I was clenching my teeth, almost bit my tongue off. The thing about a comedy from the Coen brothers is that, you need to be really intelligent to get the jokes. That’s why they make the most memorable films. Must watch!
Splinter (2008)
Labels: Toby Wilkins | author: YaoNot bad. Nice tension. Pretty decent story. Amazing creature; very refreshing. Could use a sound director though; in the last scene, the gun shots sound like a hammer hitting a sandbag instead of a proper gunshot. Watch it.
Immortel (ad vitam) (2004)
Labels: Enki Bilal | author: YaoGood story, but the plot does not properly develop over the course of the movie. The lighting is horrible; almost went blind watching it. When it comes to cyberpunk… Japanese stuff is way better. Hot actress though. Watch Linda Hardy.
Smokin’ Aces (2006)
Labels: Joe Carnahan | author: YaoWas mightily impressed by Joe Carnahan’s BMW short “Ticker,” so decided to check this movie out. Disappointed. Watching it, it feels like he does not know which direction to go. On one hand he wants to do a dirty, gritty gangster flick, but yet he wants to insert sentimental fluff. Don’t get me wrong, he managed to do both directions well, but combined together… Not so good. Watch it if you want.
Event Horizon (1997)
Labels: Paul W. S. Anderson | author: YaoThe premise has potential. But the last act is horrible. I was waiting for a peek of so called “Hell” but pshaw, no dice. Laurence Fishburne should stick to playing Morpheus and Sam Neill should keep on doing “Jurassic Park” films. Not worth it.
